Jacques Ipoma Bongongo

Jacques is the Project Manager for the Isangi REDD+ project.

Trained as a lawyer at the University of Kinshasa (class of 2006), Jacques is strong defender of the judiciary and human rights, especially those of indigenous pygmies and local communities. Drawing on this background, has developed a deep expertise in community engagement and public participation.

He brings over a decade of experience to this role. He worked for three years with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) at Maringa Lopori Wamba in the province of Equateur before working another eight years as the Coordinator of the Department of Community and Socio-Economic Engagement at Wildlife Works Carbon’s Mai Ndombe REDD+ project in the Mai Ndombe province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Working at WWC, he developed an expertise in Verified Carbon Standard and CCBA REDD+ protocols, helping to usher the project through its first CCBA audits in 2012 and 2017.
