Daniel Blattner

Dan is the President of Congo Emissions Management and has worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo for 40+ years. He also serves as the CEO of SAFBOIS, a leading Congolese timber corporation that converted ~320,000 hectares from logging to environmental concessions when the Isangi REDD+ project was founded in 2009.

Dan spent his childhood in Kinshasa after his parents migrated from Cairo in 1960. Though he ultimately settled down just outside Philadelphia after attending Syracuse University and starting a family, Dan continues to travel extensively – spending 6 months of every year in the DRC. He is a US citizen with African heritage and considers himself as much Congolese as American.

Passionate about ushering his home country into the 21st century, Dan’s career has been focused on preserving DRC’s wealth of resources through education.
